Opti-Green Questions

1. What is Opti-Green Software?

2. Doesn't it hurt my monitor to be turning on and off?

1. What is Opti-Green Software?

Opti-Green Monitor and Energy Saving Software allows virtually any VESA®> DPMS> compliant or RGB detection type monitor to automatically go into energy saving mode after a predetermined period of keyboard and mouse inactivity. It provides the internal instructions needed to independently power down or reactivate the monitor regardless of the PC and/or graphics card used. Note that Opti-Green is not necessary if your computer or video card have a built-in DPMS feature. Using Opti-Green may cause conflicts if used simultaneously with these boards if their DPMS is not disabled.

2. Doesn't it hurt my monitor to be turning on and off?

No, just the opposite. Excessive heat can severely damage your electronic equipment. By sending the monitor into a stand-by mode when not in use Opti-Green is keeping temperatures down and prolonging the life of your monitor. Also, by shutting down your monitor when not in use, you will be saving on your energy bills and helping the environment by using less electricity. The 'Power Save' options in Microsoft Windows® software achieves the same effect.
