Expertise Will Help Steer Company as it Continues to Lead the Visual Revolution
ViewSonic Corp., a worldwide leader in visual display products, has announced the addition of two members to its board of directors, Matthew E. Massengill, chairman and CEO of Western Digital Corp. (NYSE: Western Digital), and William J. Miller, former chairman and CEO of Avid Technology, Inc. The two will team with current board members Bruce Stein, Luc Vanhal and ViewSonic chairman and CEO James Chu to advise on areas of corporate governance, quality and market expansion.
“Matt and Bill bring a wealth of experience to ViewSonic that will help shape our continuing expansion into new product categories, markets and geographies,” said Chu. “Together with other members of the board, they will play a key role in guiding the company as we look to execute our vision as the preferred brand in visual display products.”
At Western Digital (WDC), Matt Massengill has directed the company to a position of industry leadership, sustained profitability and growth as a supplier of high quality, reliable hard drives to the PC industry and new storage markets. Since joining WDC in 1986, Massengill held a number of marketing and program management positions before becoming chief operating officer in 1999, president and chief executive officer in 2000, and chairman of the board in 2001. A graduate of Purdue University, Massengill served at Ford Aerospace and Commodore International earlier in his career.
Bill Miller currently serves as a member of the board of directors of NVIDIA Corp., a leader in advanced graphics processing technology and Waters Corporation, a leading maker of analytical instruments and associated supplies. In his former roles as Chairman and CEO of Avid Technology, Inc., and Quantum Corporation, Miller also drove corporate expansion and operational strategies, obtaining invaluable experience in the computing sector, including digital tools for multimedia, hardware, software and services.
The appointment of these members to the ViewSonic board of directors is the result of an ongoing global search by Korn/Ferry International, a leading executive search firm.
