January 2008
ViewSonic widescreen Full HD/1080p projector raises the bar for video entertainment Breathtaking Home Theatre Performance
7th January 2008 - Drawing on its 20-year heritage and expertise in the visual display industry, ViewSonic Corp. announces its entrance into the “luxury home theatre lifestyle” category with the first offering in its Precision Series, the Pro8100 home theatre projector. The Precision Series of displays will combine the latest in colour performance, technology and design to provide superb overall image quality with both standard and high definition sources, and will be developed exclusively for the custom installation and specialty retail channels.
With the high-end Pro8100, ViewSonic introduces a state-of-the-art Full-HD projector that delivers stunning image quality and optimal video clarity. Equipped with a full suite of new-generation features, this model has a native 16:9 aspect ratio with full HD 1080p resolution and boasts the latest in image processing technology to satisfy even the most demanding video enthusiasts.
Best-in class panel, colour and video processing technology
The heart of this innovative full 1080p HD projection masterpiece is a C2Fine 3-LCD panel that enhances brightness and boosts colour accuracy to new levels. The incoming signals are automatically detected and optimised by a powerful Silicon Optix Reon video scaler with HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) to deliver top quality, noise free high-definition movies, videos and TV. Thanks to its 10-bit colour processing, the Pro8100 renders over 1 billion colours for super-fine colour graduation. Furthermore, it evaluates images on a pixel basis and clears any blurred areas while adding contrast to make details stand out more clearly. In addition, the Pro8100 identifies complete frames as they come in and optimises film to broadcast cadence regardless of the incoming video cadence. With its integrated auto-iris technology, the Pro8100 responds to signal changes with accurate, real-time adjustments to brightness levels within a scene. This enables contrast levels of up to 13000:1.
Unrivalled colour calibration possibilities
Ultimately - At the end of the image processing chain, the sophisticated ViewSonic Precision Color SystemTM (PCS) acts as a final “colour check gatekeeper” and ensures accurate colour reproduction by fine-tuning and correcting colour reproduction errors in the front-end scalar chip. Typically only achieved with expensive external video optimizers the built-in PCS allows up to 33 individual levels of gamma correction for studio grade colour calibration to achieve near perfect grey scale optimisation.
Ease of Operation
The Pro8100 is easy to set up: an intuitive on screen menu allows even technical novices to quickly navigate its comprehensive image optimisation options. With a noise level of just 18dB when run in Eco mode, the model is extremely quiet. Eco mode also extends lamp life to 5000 hours – enough to watch one feature length movie a day for a period of more than nine years! For perfect installation and setup convenience, the Pro8100 comes with powered zoom and focus including motorised H & V lens shift. Besides standard PC and video connections the Pro8100 offers two of the latest HDMI 1.3a inputs with HDCP compliance and two component video inputs to provide full digital and analogue connectivity in a customised home theatre installation.
Unique customisation options
For those who like to add more variety to the colour scheme of their living room, the Pro8100 offers unique changeable top covers. While default delivery is in piano black the Pro8100 is also available in white, grey or burgundy –
“With the Pro8100 projector, ViewSonic delivers high-precision home cinema to passionate video enthusiasts who demand the most advanced image processing technology and the highest levels of image quality and colour purity”, comments Thorsten Helmich, European Product Marketing Manager ViewSonic Europe.
The Pro8100 comes with a 3 year on-site warranty and will be available from specialist resellers.
