ViewSonic® Unleashes Microsoft XP-Powered Tablet PC on UK Market
New V1100 Tablet PC for mobile professionals enhances the functionality of a notebook PC with pen, speech or soft keyboard input and integrated 802.11b connectivity
ViewSonic® Corporation, a worldwide Visual Technologies leader, today previewed its new V1100 Tablet PC, the UK's first Tablet PC to feature Microsoft's Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system. The V1100 will enable business users to enjoy all of the functionality of a notebook PC with the added convenience of pen, speech or soft keyboard input and integrated high-speed 802.11b connectivity.
The Tablet PC V1100 builds on ViewSonic's existing expertise in the Tablet PC arena to provide users in the office, on the road, or at home with wireless, full-screen viewing of mission-critical applications and data. In addition to Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, the V1100 Tablet PC features the latest Intel Pentium III Mobile technology; an embedded 802.11b wireless solution.
Instat/MDR recently predicted that sales of pen-based Tablet PCs would increase at a compound annual growth rate of 107.4% over the next four years.*
The Tablet PC is set to become the biggest change in the history of the PC and will open the door to the productive use of the mobile PC, said Aaron Fright, ViewSonic`s European Product Manager. Central to the delivery of this new platform is the combination of advanced digitiser screen technology and Microsoft XP for Tablet PC software. The V1100 Tablet PC gives business users the full power & mobility of a notebook but with the freedom and versatility of pen and paper. The V1100 encompasses all of these technologies and promises to deliver the most indispensable device for mobile computing.
The natural, intuitive computing experience offered by the Tablet PC combines with the robust and versatile Windows platform, to offer users and businesses outstanding functionality, said Neil Laver, Product Marketing Manager for Tablet PC at Microsoft. In addition, the familiarity of the operating system means users have a very small learning curve so they can take advantage of the new technology almost immediately. The V1100 Tablet PC embodies all these qualities and we extremely pleased by the Viewsonic's decision to partner with Microsoft.
The V1100 Tablet PC features improved screen resolution, extended user controls and an ergonomic design to improve and facilitate users' grip of the unit. The ability to rotate and use in both portrait and landscape orientation maximises the functionality of the form factor and the handwriting and journal features ensure the Tablet PC can be a true business tool to improve levels of user productivity.
